The roof waterproofing work allowed us to spend winter in dry conditions. During
the week of Christmas vacation, we tiled the entire dispensary floor, which
transforms very pleasantly our working conditions.
Since the beginning of March, Cora, a Dutch missionary nurse, has brought very
precious assistance one day per week. Her sense of human relations and her good
knowledge of Arabic make her a very appreciated colleague.
Zeina, the dispensary assistant, gave birth by C-section on April 11. She continued
to work as along as possible, for the bad atmosphere at home was more harmful
to her health than her time at work. Her replacement has been organized for the
upcoming weeks.
These last months, we have been involved in the placement of several children
from a very poor family. The mother, Samira, of Syrian Kurdish origin, is without
husband and without work, often in bad health and without a regular habitat.
Her husband died in prison. Her three little girls have been taken in by two
evangelical orphanages with whom we work regularly. A fourth should also be able
to find placement there soon. A little boy was placed as well, and we are helping
the mother to care for Ali, 16 months, whom she keeps with her and who survives
in spite of it all. We collaborate with the foster homes so that the children
do not lose contact with their mother.
All of this involves very painstaking work, but the "rescue" and
the blossoming of these children in their new environment is a great joy
for us.
